Our Physicians : Cancer Experts
For more than 50 years, St. Mary's of Michigan Seton Cancer Institute has brought cancer patients hope and health with pioneering, lifesaving technologies and treatments.

Dr. Young Kim, M.D., Medical Director
Dr. Kim received his bachelor of medicine degree at Kyungpook University in Taegu, Korea. He performed his surgical internship at Mount Sinai Hospital in Elmhurst, New York, and surgical residency at Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. He completed his radiation oncology residencies at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.

He was certified in radiation therapy by the American Board of Radiology in 1975.

Dr. Kim has been an assistant professor at the University of Michigan, then associate professor at the University of Miami and Wayne State University. He has published more than 30 research articles and has presented at more than 30 conferences.

Dr. Michael Cappelli, M.D.
Dr. Cappelli earned his medical degree from Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. He completed additional training in general surgery at the Mayo Clinic, and completed his residency in radiation oncology at Wayne State University.

He is board certified in radiation oncology, and serves as chairman of the St. Mary's of Michigan Cancer Committee.

Dr. Cappelli was a member of the full-time academic faculty in radiation oncology at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City. There he held academic appointments both at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and Albert Einstein School of Medicine.

He is active in the Michigan State Medical Society, serving as one of 39 physician board members. He was also elected chairman of the young physician section and represents Michigan at American Medical Association governing meetings.

Dr. Tushar Shah, M.D.
Dr. Shah received his medical degree from Baroda Medical College in Baroda, India. He completed a surgical internship at Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia and a radiation oncology residency at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit.

He has published in both the International Journal of Radiation Oncology and the American Heart Journal.

Dr. Shah is board certified in Radiation Oncology
