| Support After Discharge Cardiac Surgery Support Group St. Mary's of Michigan hosts a Cardiac Surgery Support Group which meets the fourth Thursday of the month (except November and December) at 6:30 p.m. in the Main lobby of our Health Education Center at St. Mary's of Michigan Medical Center (click here for directions). Come join fellow heart surgery patients and their families for an opportunity to share questions and concerns about heart surgery. Participants benefit from speakers and special programs, in addition to networking. |
Teddy Bear Reunion Each year, St. Mary's of Michigan hosts a reunion with open heart patients and their Sir Koff-A-Lot teddy bears - stuffed animals that serve as breathing splints to help patients take deep breathes and cough after surgery.Each reunion is a celebration of life and healthy hearts! The Teddy Bear Reunion is typically held the Sunday before Valentine's Day. Be sure to mark your calendars! |
| Cardiac Rehabilitation Cardiac Rehabilitation is often prescribed by the physician for patients who have undergone heart surgery as well as procedures like angioplasty and stent implantation. Patients who have suffered a heart attack may also benefit from this rehabilitative approach. Mall Walkers This program is designed to reduce the risk of heart disease as well as supporting a more healthy lifestyle through exercise. |
