Second Annual Camp Healing Hearts set for September 18
Camp Healing Hearts, a bereavement camp for children, teens and their families is set for Saturday, September 18. The camp, hosted by St. Mary’s of Michigan and Heartland Hospice, is intended for any child or teen that has experienced the death of a loved one. It will be held at the Saginaw Zoo (for the children) and St. Mary’s of Michigan Seton Cove Spirituality Center (for the adults), located at 1647 S. Washington in Saginaw.
The day-grief camp allows for children and teens to have a safe place to talk with others who have experienced a similar loss. It will also help them recognize appropriate and healthy ways to express grief through the programs activities. Those activities include special arts and crafts, musical and zoo activities, and a non-denominational memorial service. There will also be plenty of fun! Dinner will be provided. A corresponding educational program will also be provided for parents and guardians to learn how to cope with a loss as a family.
Camp Healing Hearts encourages safety, sharing, learning, trust and fun times together.
There is no charge to attend Camp Healing Hearts. Check-in begins at 2:00 p.m. at the zoo and the program will take place from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. If you would like to register to attend or if you need more information, please call Susan Gentle or Pam Christe at (989) 667-3440. You can also call toll-free at 800-275-4517.
