Dr. Babu Receives Power of Dad Fatherhood Recognition Award

B. Babu Paidipaty MD., St. Mary's of Michigan pulmonologist and critical care specialist not only cares for his patients, he also knows the importance of education and community service and it reflects in his children. Dr. Babu was one of eight men selected to receive the Power of Dad Fatherhood Recognition Award for his dedication and positive influence in the lives of his children. Recognizing local fathers as role models gives our youths examples of true fatherhood and encourages fathers to stay involved with their families.

Dr. Babu, who has two daughters and a son, said he is proud of his kids and loves being a father. "It feels good being a dad and I love the responsibility that comes with it."

All three of his children completed their undergraduate degrees at Yale University and have studied and worked throughout the country and world. "I and my wife concentrated on their education and values. All of our children are involved in community service. We have to give back," he said.

The Power of Dad organization, a non-profit that was formed to encourage, educate and enhance the relationships between fathers and their children, will honor eight men from the Great Lakes Bay Region on Friday, Feb. 25 with its Fatherhood Recognition Awards at Horizons Conference Center. The evening will feature former Detroit Lions defensive lineman Luther Ellis as keynote speaker.
