St. Mary's of Michigan Sterile Processing Wins Department of the Year Award
St. Mary's of Michigan's Sterile Processing Department was recently named the Michigan Society for Healthcare Central Service Professionals (MSHCSP) Central Service Department of the Year.
This yearly award is given to a department which distinguishes themselves from other departments by meeting criteria such as: superior professionalism, staff certification and sustaining customer satisfaction by attaining high standards of care set by professional organization within the healthcare community.
The Sterile Processing Department at St. Mary's of Michigan assures the operating rooms have the tools needed to complete each operation. It does this by making sure tools are cleaned to the highest standards and delivering the instruments to the correct rooms. Of the 26 sterile processing technicians currently employed at St. Mary's, 22 of them are nationally certified.
The MSHCP was established in 1977 as a non-profit organization to promote the professional development of its members and recognition of the society.
