The St. Mary's of Michigan Seton Cancer Institute received a donation of over $9,000 from the Saginaw Spirit Hockey Club earlier this month. This donation is the result of money raised at the fifth annual PINK OUT game for breast cancer awareness, which took place on October 29.
Before the game, 30 breast cancer survivors' names were read as they were called out on the ice for a pre-game recognition ceremony. Once all of the survivors were gathered, Seton Cancer Institute Director, Tim Laugh, performed the ceremonial puck drop.
Other activities that took place as part of the PINK OUT included a women's hockey game played before the Spirit game and a jersey auction of the special pink jerseys worn by the Spirit players that night.
