Field Neurosciences Institute Receives Grant to Promote Helmet Safety
St. Mary's of Michigan Field Neurosciences Institute recently received a $3,000 grant from Dow Corning, which will be used to support the "Buckle Your Brain" program to promote helmet safety. The grant will also provide custom-fitted bicycle helmets to Carpenter Elementary School and Eastlawn Elementary School in Midland.
The Field Neurosciences Institute has concentrated their injury prevention efforts for children into two programs: the "Buckle Your Brain" program and the "Caught Being Safe!" program. Since 1998, the Field Neurosciences Institute has presented information on helmet safety to over 70,000 students and has distributed more than 50,000 bicycle helmets to local children.
Dow Corning is committed to improving the education and safety of children in the region. The company's grants are primarily awarded to groups focused on enriching the lives of pre-university students in the communities of Dow Corning employees.
The Field Neurosciences Institute is located in Suite 101 at 4677 Towne Centre Road in Saginaw Township.
