St. Mary’s of Michigan Foundation Honors Charles Jessup, D.O.
St. Mary’s of Michigan Foundation is pleased to announce that Charles Jessup, D.O., Emergency Medicine, has been named the 2006 recipient of the Spirit of St. Vincent Award. Dr. Jessup was honored at the St. Mary’s of Michigan Foundation 12th
Annual Cornette Ball on November 18 at Horizons Conference Center in Saginaw Township. 500 people attended the black-tie event.
A pioneer in the field of emergency medicine, Dr. Charles Jessup has practiced as an emergency medicine physician at St. Mary’s of Michigan since 1981. He co-founded Timberline Emergency Physicians in 1982, and served as president of the group from 1982 to 1993; since then, he has continued to serve as senior vice president.
Dr. Jessup earned a B.A. degree from Albion College in 1960 and a D.O. degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathy in 1964. He completed an internship at Lansing General Hospital in 1965. Before joining St. Mary’s of Michigan, he served as chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Bay Medical Center and president of Bay Emergency Services. Prior to that, he worked as a family practitioner in Bay City. He also served as medical director of EMS Services in Bay City and was instrumental in implementing EMS services for the Tri-Counties.
Dr. Jessup has served in numerous leadership roles at St. Mary’s of Michigan including chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine, chairman of the Performance Improvement Committee, chairman of the Credentials Committee, chairman of the Medical Staff Bylaws Committee and president of the Medical Staff. He has also served on the Joint Conference Committee and the St. Mary’s of Michigan Advisory Board. Most recently, he has been appointed to the St. Mary’s of Michigan Board of Directors.
