Cancer Support Services

Therapy Dog
Complimentary therapies: aromatherapy, comforting canines, music therapy, massage, light therapy, meditation, yoga and other stress management techniques to help patients and families better cope with the physical and emotional challenge of cancer 
Education: genetic testing, breast self examination and clinical research trials and many more cancer-related educational programs are offered to help patients, families, and the public throughout the year 
Hospice: compassionate patient comfort and family support when the end of life is imminent
Library services: technical and practical information from a large array of print and online resources
Nutritional counseling: dieticians and other experts assist patients with ideas for meal selection, during and following treatment, and provide consultation on nutritional supplements
Pastoral care: chaplains and others provide spiritual and emotional support, comfort and guidance to patients and families
Pet therapy: dogs and cats promote relaxation, lower blood pressure levels, and serve as motivators for patients to comply with and succeed in their therapies
Social work: knowledgeable experts can assist patients and families with insurance, financial and home care issues as well as make referrals to community-based resources
Support groups: various groups are available to help patients and their loved ones face the physical and emotional challenges of cancer - click here for more information
Transportation: St. Mary’s of Michigan Seton Cancer Institute can arrange to transport patients if necessary
