Prostate Health

Managing your risk for cancer

If you are a man, you are at risk for prostate cancer. The risk for prostate cancer increases with age. Your risk is also higher if you are African-American or have a family history of prostate cancer. The American Cancer Society recommends that men over age 50 get tested for prostate cancer once a year.

The best weapon against prostate cancer is catching it early.

Throughout the year, St. Mary's of Michigan offers free prostate screening exams. Check our calendar of events for upcoming events and screenings near you. Or, be certain to consult with your physician during routine physicals screening tests that are appropriate for you.

If you don't have a physician, call 1-844-907-8000.

Non-cancerous Prostate Issues

While prostate cancer is something every man fears, there are even more common and potentially more troubling non-cancerous prostate issues such as pain, inflammation, urinary problems, and impotency.

Talk to your St. Mary's of Michigan primary care provider if you have any of these symptoms. They can provide help and healing and will coordinate with a urologist if necessary.
