Half-Century of Healing
When an organization advances beyond its original vision, you know its achieving great things.
More than 50 years ago, visionary citizens began to consider the healthcare needs of the Standish community. They understood that for the town and surrounding communities to thrive, residents needed convenient access to health care, specifically a local hospital. That vision sparked what is now St. Mary's of Michigan Standish Hospital - a medical center of excellence for Northeastern Michigan.
St. Mary's of Michigan Standish Hospital has grown tremendously over its half-century of operation. We're happy to say that it continues its dramatic story of growth and service to the community.
Through remarkable teamwork we have seen our local community hospital transformed into a state-of-the-art critical access hospital that this region can be proud of. As a pilot program, funded through the Kellogg Foundation, ours was the first Coronary Care Unit in a rural hospital in the United States. We have lead the way in innovative medical solutions by introducing multi-planar (3 dimensional) imaging to Standish more than 20 years ago with CT and SPECT imaging technology. This was a first in northeast Michigan. Rest assured, we will continue to lead the way with new technology and new developments in the days and years ahead.
Today, St. Mary's of Michigan Standish Hospital is a critical access hospital with 20 acute and five critical care beds, as well as 39 skilled nursing beds. It offers key services, including a 24-hour emergency department, cutting-edge imaging technology, state-of-the-art laboratory, rehabilitaion services, specialty clinics, and a rural health clinic. St. Mary's of Michigan Standish Hospital is part of the St. Mary's of Michigan family and a member of Ascension Health.
