64-Slice CT Scan
St. Mary's of Michigan Standish Hospital offers breakthrough diagnostic technology - the 64-slice CT scanner - to help physicians and providers reach confident diagnoses and provide the best patient care less invasively.
CT exams (formerly known as CAT scans) are used when people are ill or injured, or when a physician suspects a medical problem that is not easily detectable from a conventional physical examination.
The GE LightSpeed VCT XT provides a 64-slice, 3-dimensional image of a variety of anatomical areas. This technology non-invasively assists physicians and providers in the diagnosis of ailments in many areas of the body:
- Head, brain, and neck
- Facial bones
- Thorax (chest)
- Extremities - upper and lower
- Spine - cervical, thoracic, and lumbar
The addition of the 64-slice CT scanner complements and extends the range of quality diagnostic services that our hospital offers in this area. It provides us with vastly improved image quality and imaging speed, and enhances the overall diagnostic confidence we have in all of our studies.
